Lompoc Rotary Club accepting applications for multiple $1000 scholarships for local Lompoc graduates
The Lompoc Rotary Club will be awarding $1000 scholarships to Lompoc Valley graduates seeking to attend 2- or 4-year academic institutions or a vocational training school. The money can be used for tuition, supplies, tools, books, transportation and living expenses.

Any student from any high school or home-school in the Lompoc Valley is invited to apply through February 28, 2025. The applications with instructions will be available online at lompocrotary.com/page/scholarships and must be submitted electronically.

Since its inception in 1925 the Lompoc Rotary Club has granted more than $55,000 in scholarships to college-bound high school seniors graduating from Lompoc area schools.  This is the third year that scholarships will be awarded to vocational or trade school applicants, and the first year where scholarships will be based on the applying student’s motivation and drive for their career, instead of the numbers on their transcript.

“The need for scholarships is growing because higher education has become more expensive,” says Asia Batastini, the Scholarship Committee Chair for Lompoc Rotary. “The Lompoc Rotary Club’s Scholarship Program helps bridge the gap between family resources and the cost of higher education.  By supporting
education through scholarships, Rotarians are expanding possibilities for Lompoc students and strengthening the community.”

Rotary International reports that over 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. That’s 17 percent of the world’s adult population. Rotary’s goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy.
